Alan Sparhawk has unveiled ‘Not Broken,’ the second single to be taken from his forthcoming album With Trampled By Turtles. As previously announced on GIITTV, the album will be released by Sub Pop on May 30 and is a collaboration with fellow Minnesotans Trampled By Turtles.
With Trampled By Turtles is Sparhawk’s second solo album, following on from last year’s White Roses, My God. Low the band he formed with his wife Mimi Parker ended when Parker died in 2022. The female singer featured on ‘Not Broken‘ is Sparhawk and Parker’s daughter, Hollis.
The video for ‘Not Broken‘ was directed by Alexa Viscius and may be seen below.
Alan Sparhawk will be playing a number of live dates this year, including eight dates in the UK, and details of whichmay be found on his website here. The album may be pre-ordered here.
The album was recorded at the end of 2023 at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Alan Sparhawk came in towards the end of Trampled by Turtles’ session there, with several songs in development. Some had never worked in Low; others were fresh and waiting for the right setting. For years, the two acts had talked about making something together, but the talk was never more than hypothetical. When Sparhawk needed it most, the promise re-emerged, sharper than ever. ‘When the opportunity seems right,’ Sparhawk says, ‘you jump.’
