NEWS: Some Remain announce debut EP ‘Feel Low’ + release title track

Some Remain are an alternative indie punk band from Sligo, Ireland. Formed from busking on the streets of Sligo, having played all over Ireland, they deliver catchy hooks and chaotic noise in their high-energy live sets. Although formed in 2019, they have only released six standalone singles to date: debut ‘Television’, ‘Walk Away’, ‘Never Enough’, ‘Knuckle Sandwich’, ‘Dead Sound’ and ‘Death Defying Stunts’.

Their debut 5 track EP Feel Low arrives on streaming services and 12”vinyl on 19 July via Blowtorch Records. It was recorded by Some Remain then mixed and mastered by Jamie Hyland (M(h)aol, Gilla Band).

The single ‘Feel Low’ combines a mix of dynamic energy, sonic textures and chaotic instrumentation. The second single from the EP, following ‘Death Defying Stunts’, also brings softer elements compared to previous releases as well as more ambitious production. Although cut short on the radio edit, the full-length version features a long, gentle, psychedelic coda with a brilliant bass work out. Like the Arctic Monkeys recognising that they couldn’t write tracks about lairy nights in Sheffield for ever, ‘Feel Low’ features no characters or antics from Sligo. As Jamie says: “It’s a simple meditative take on those blank, grey days when nothing seems to go right. But with a dig at myself writing awful poetry”

Some Remain have been part of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Longlist 2024 and showcases such as Whelan’s Ones to Watch and Ireland Music Week. Their tracks are self-published. They have been working with Galway independent label Blowtorch Records on PR and physical releases since 2020, releasing two 7” singles. They will be working with Blowtorch again on a 12”coloured vinyl release of the Feel Low EP. They have had spot plays previously on BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), RTE 2FM (Dan Hegarty), RadioX (John Kennedy) and Amazing Radio
