PREVIEW: Eden Festival

When: 12th – 15th June 2025

Where: Raehill’s Estate, St. Ann’s, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland

In just over a fortnight’s time, Eden Festival will return to the stunning vale of Raehills Meadows in Dumfriesshire for its 14th annual edition. Retaining its capacity of 4499, this independent festival has over 250 acts who will be performing across 10 stages, covering all musical bases from World to Funk, Classical to Jungle, Acoustic to Dancehall, and everything in between.

The theme for this year’s Eden Festival is SPACE. Whether it is inner or outer, cosmic stardust sprinkled astronauts, neon comets, children of the moon, or the universal Disco, as the great jazz explorer Sun Ra rightly said many years go, Space is the Place.

And come Thursday the 12th of June, Eden Festival is the place to be for this year the event organisers have scheduled a brilliant programme of music featuring headliners Bob Vylan, Slum Village, and Leftfield (DJ set) and a wonderful undercard including such great acts as Orchestra Baobab, Beluga Lagoon, Talisk, Mungo’s Hi Fi ft. Eve Lazarus, Utah Saints, plus many, many more besides.

But Eden Festival is not just about music. Located in the centre of the festival is the Garden of Eden which provides a central meeting point filled with plants, seats, sculptures, workshops, crafts, art, and music. The Woodland Area is a woodland playground for kids of all ages, including a forest trail marble run. Then there is the Workshop Arena where you can find everything from Qigong, Yogadance, mindfulness meditation, tribal drumming, tarot to embroidery for textile renewal, haberdashery badges and nipple tassels!

Not forgetting the vibrant Kids Field which has entertainment, workshops, and games throughout the day for kids and families; the Vishnu Lounge where there are hammocks and bathtubs to soak up chill out genres, both live and DJ, from around the world; Rabbie’s Tavern, the festival’s very own Scottish alehouse; The Melodrome Theatre for Music, Comedy, Spoken Word, Theatre, and Cabaret; The Bodega, featuring a unique mix of science talks, burlesque performances, and exclusive chats with top DJs; and The Boardwalk where Reggae artists both live and DJ will perform on a cycle powered stage.

The Eden Festival director, Hannah Gould says:

“Year on year, we are excited for Eden goers and also everyone involved as it truly is a labour of love. From our dedicated team of gardeners to the people running the workshops and visual artists creating magic before as well as during the festival, plus the in-house bookers, the people behind the stages, and a formidable crew of volunteers. Eden is a true family-friendly festival for everyone. Independently minded and independent in spirit. We can’t wait for Edenites old and new to arrive!’
